To support and further the artistic endeavours of its members in the use of watercolour media (defined as any aqueous medium on archival supports), and to provide its members with artistic opportunities, exposure to talent and information, facilities and events otherwise unavailable to an individual painter not associated with such a society. It is also the intent of the membership to foster a supportive environment in which camaraderie and just having fun painting are equally important.
About us
Bayview Watercolour Society is much more than just watercolour!
The Bayview Watercolour Society is a non-profit organization formed in April 2002. From a membership of just 17 artists it has continued to thrive and grow in an enjoyable atmosphere of learning and camaraderie. Our members are a happy mix of recreational and professional artists.
BWS holds monthly meetings in Richmond Hill, at which guest artists, skilled in the many facets of drawing or painting in watercolour, acrylic, mixed media and/or pastels, demonstrate widely varied techniques. These demonstrations may be followed by a workshop by the same artist. We also invite our members to demonstrate their individual style in their chosen medium. BWS has enjoyed demos and critiques by such well-known artists as Margaret Roseman, D.D. Gadjanski, Donnah Cameron and Doug Purdon.
For our upcoming programs click on schedule of events.
We hold two art shows each year, one juried and one open. This gives our members an opportunity to exhibit and sell their works of art.
